The ORCC Board of Directors is very pleased to announce a new partnership with the Center for Interpersonal Relationships (“CFIR”) to provide survivors of sexual and gender-based violence with access to trauma-informed counselling during the ORCC’s restructuring and renewal process.
The team at CFIR is committed to providing compassionate, inclusive, and accessible services to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. Their counsellors are experienced in supporting survivors from diverse social, cultural and racial groups, members of the LGBTQ2+ community, and those with disabilities.
Sessions will be provided virtually through CFIR’s secure video conferencing facilities. As a provider of essential services, CFIR is also able to provide in-person sessions in accordance with public health requirements pertaining to COVID-19.
Through this partnership, counselling sessions will be available at no cost to survivors ages 16 and over. The Board of Directors also recognizes the scarcity of affordable and accessible longer-term counselling services for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. Therefore, rather than taking a “one-size-fits-all” approach, there will be flexibility for survivors to access the number of sessions necessary to meet their unique needs and circumstances.
We are very grateful that survivors will have access to safe, confidential and reliable trauma-informed counselling through CFIR during the ORCC’s temporary closure. Click here for more information about the services available through the ORCC/CFIR partnership.
Together with the continued provision of crisis line services through our partnership with SAC Kingston, survivors will have access to a range of services that meet their specific needs. Over the coming weeks, the Board of Directors will be providing more details about a broader community engagement process that will inform the modernization of ORCC’s programs and services. We will share more information about this process through our website, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram as details become available.
Respectfully,
The ORCC Board of Directors
