Aedyn Cressman is a Registered Social Service Worker with over six years of experience supporting individuals navigating complex mental health, substance use, housing, crisis, and justice-related challenges.
As ORCC’s Acting Systems Navigator, Aedyn supports survivors in navigating complex systems, including healthcare, housing, social services, crisis supports, and justice-related services. This role is especially important for survivors experiencing multiple, intersecting barriers and needing support with coordination, advocacy, and access to services.
Aedyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminology and is currently completing their Master’s in Counselling Psychology.
Their experience in community mental health and crisis work has shaped their understanding of the gaps that exist across systems such as healthcare, housing, social services, and the justice system, as well as the intersections between them. Aedyn is passionate about understanding and addressing systemic barriers that disproportionately impact marginalized and diverse communities, often making it more difficult to access the supports they need.
Aedyn brings a down-to-earth, person-centred approach to their work and believes that meaningful change is built through authentic human connection, compassionate advocacy, and collaborative problem-solving.
In recent years, Aedyn has presented their research on Gender-Affirming Crisis Care at the provincial Human Services and Justice Coordinating Committee Conference and as part of the Guelph-Wellington Ontario Health Team Anti-Racism and Oppression Series. This work is informed by both their personal and professional understanding of the importance of equitable, inclusive, and affirming care across community systems.
