The ORCC is deeply distressed by the events that have been taking place in our City since January 29. We respect and acknowledge the right to peaceful protest. That is not what is happening in our city right now.

As an organization we do not tolerate threats or acts of violence.

We stand in support with everyone who has experienced hate, harassment, intimidation, disrespect, and fear. It is time for the occupation of our City to end, and we call on our City leaders and the Police Service to take urgent action to ensure the safety and security of our community.

In the midst of all of this, we want to reassure survivors that we are here. The ORCC supports and advocates for people in our community who experience gender-based violence. We work to ensure that their voices are heard and that they have accessible and appropriate services available to them.

We want to assure all survivors of gender-based violence that we are here to support you in the following ways:

  • Our crisis line (613-562-2333) is available 24/7/365. You can reach out anytime. Someone will always be on the other end to answer your call.
  • If you prefer text/chat support, you can access this service daily from noon to midnight. Just send a message to 613-544-6424 to get started.
  • Online crisis counselling appointments are also available. You can get started by filling out an intake form on our online platform. If you have questions or need assistance to get started, please reach out by email (counselling@orcc.net) or by phone (613-562-2334, ext. 105).

We want every survivor to know that help is always available.

You are not alone.

Together, we will get through this difficult time in our community.
